To keep everyone updated, tomorrow Brian and I will be leaving Cidadela after a two and a half week stay that feels much, much longer. Friday we´ll take the 10 hour bus down to Joburg, spend a night or two there, and then take a bus four hours North again to Child Aid Tubatse. We will crash on the couch of the project leader there while we wait for news about our visa (still no new news yet). THe project in Tubatse is building a number of community buildings out of what I am gathering seems to be a local version of cobb, a sustainable building method that we are both very interested in. However, they are currently at a standstill and seem to be having financial problems.
So that´s where we stand now. I´m hoping we are able to be given some money from somewhere because this one month of waiting for our visa is turning out to be something else altogether. I´m trying to get psyched for this new project, this new adventure. On the ond hand I am sick of living out of a backpack, dreading living on someones couch for a month or so, and wanting to start my ´real´project, the one I trained for. On the other hand I know that I am lucky in many ways to be able to see the variety of projects that are out there, the variety of cultures and people in Southern Africa. This is an experience I will never have again and I am going to do my best to make the most of it. In theory at least.
Plus, they speak English in South Africa!
