Alright guys, now is the time. You should know by now that in February I am planning on going to Namibia for one year to work with an HIV/AIDS education project – joining the fight against an epidemic that is decimating large parts of Africa. You should also know (if you follow this blog) that so far I have spent six weeks fundraising in the sun, rain, wind and cold to meet my goal of $6,000 which will get me to Namibia.
I’ve learned from fundraising on the street, in front of stores, and door to door that many people are skeptical about giving to a cause, especially to a stranger. They want to make sure that their money is going to the right place, and rightly so. Well here is the good news – I am not a stranger, you already know me! And from reading this blog you now know that no one in their right mind would put up with the weather, the long hours, and the abuse of fundraising if they did not wholeheartedly, 100% believe in their cause. And I do.
So here is the deal. When I am not fundraising, I am on the mountain in Massachusetts training to be a Development Instructor, a huge asset to the programs in Southern Africa. In order to cover our travel and training costs, each person in my group has to raise $6,000. So far we have been working really hard and are not far off where we should be in our fundraising goal but our last fundraising trip is in December, and the winter weather and holiday season are going to make it difficult to get stores to fundraise at AND to get people to stop to talk to us in the cold weather. So in order to reach our goal I need your help.
Join me in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
